TradChattanooga Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day
The month began with the telethon session at WTCI, where local musicians came together to showcase their talents and raise funds for the station. Following the telethon, the Mystical March Market event session created a festive environment that resonated with the spirit of Irish tradition.
Another memorable gathering took place at Morning Pointe in Happy Valley, where the musicians brought their enchanting melodies to the residents. This performance not only entertained but also connected generations, as the soothing sounds of traditional Irish music filled the air, evoking nostalgia and joy among the audience.
How Irish music became part of my life
The first time I joined an Irish session, I was sure I could jump right in. I was a solid musician, comfortable improvising, and eager to play. But every time I started to catch a tune, it slipped into another. Then another. Before long, I was completely lost.
It felt like everyone else had a rulebook—or maybe a tunebook—that I didn’t.
What I didn’t understand then is something every Irish session quietly teaches: listening is part of playing.
